Frequently Asked Questions

When would I use a 6.0 x 50mm over 40mm?
Choose 50mm where you need deeper penetration into the substrate — for example, fixing thicker hardwood decking boards, connecting structural battens, or where extra pull-through resistance is required beyond what a 40mm provides.

Do I need to pre-drill?
Yes — pre-drilling is recommended in hardwood and near all edges. An impact driver is recommended for efficient driving at this gauge and length.

Are they suitable for pressure-treated timber?
Yes — A2 stainless is the correct choice for pressure-treated and tanalised outdoor timber.

What driver bit do I need?
Typically Torx TX30 or Pozi PZ3 for 6.0mm screws — confirm on the pack.

Can I use them for hardwood decking?
Yes — the 6.0mm gauge and 50mm length makes this a strong choice for fixing hardwood decking boards where additional holding power is needed compared to softwood.
