When would I use a 6.0 x 100mm screw?
This is a structural fixing screw — suited to connecting heavy timbers, fixing gate rails to posts, building pergola and decking frames, and anywhere that requires maximum pull-through resistance in thick timber sections.

Do I need to pre-drill?
Yes — always pre-drill with a 4.5–5.0mm bit in hardwood and near all timber edges. An impact driver is strongly recommended to drive 100mm screws efficiently without cam-out.

Are they suitable for pressure-treated timber?
Yes — A2 stainless steel is the correct specification for pressure-treated and tanalised structural timber in outdoor applications.

What driver bit do I need?
Typically Torx TX30 or Pozi PZ3 for 6.0mm screws — confirm on the pack. Use an impact driver for best results at this length and gauge.

What is A2 stainless steel?
A2 (304 grade) stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance for most outdoor structural applications. For marine or highly aggressive coastal environments, consider A4 (316 grade).
