Frequently Asked Questions

What is an appliance trap used for?
It connects the waste outlet of a washing machine or dishwasher to the drain while trapping water to prevent odours and gases from rising back through the pipe.

Is it compatible with standard UK/Irish plumbing?
Yes — the 40mm sizing is the standard for domestic appliance waste connections in the UK and Ireland.

Can I install this myself?
Yes — it is designed for straightforward DIY installation. No specialist tools are required, though basic plumbing knowledge is recommended.

Will it fit my existing pipework?
This trap fits 40mm waste pipework. Check your existing pipe diameter before purchasing to confirm compatibility.

Does it require any sealant?
In most cases no, as the trap uses compression or push-fit connections. However, applying plumber’s PTFE tape to threaded connections is good practice.
