What can I cook in it?
The Falcon Enamel Pie Dish is perfect for traditional pies (shortcrust, puff, and hot water crust pastry), fruit crumbles, quiches, tarts, baked puddings, and shallow casseroles. Its wide, shallow shape promotes even pastry baking and a well-browned base.
Can I use it on the hob as well as in the oven?
Enamel-on-steel can be used on gas and electric hobs as well as in the oven. It is not recommended for induction hobs unless confirmed as induction-compatible. Avoid using on ceramic glass hobs, as the base may scratch the surface.
How do I clean it?
Hand washing with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge is recommended. Avoid metal scourers or abrasive cleaners that can chip the enamel surface. Most Falcon pieces are dishwasher safe — check the product label to confirm.
Will the enamel chip?
Enamel can chip if knocked against hard surfaces or dropped. Handle with care and avoid stacking sharp-edged items inside it. Small chips do not affect performance but expose the steel beneath, which can rust if left wet.
Is it 22cm inside or outside measurement?
Pie dish measurements are typically taken across the top rim. For pastry lids, add approximately 2–3cm to the dish measurement to allow for the overhang.
