Frequently Asked Questions
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Barrier mats are primarily designed for indoor use at entrances and hallways. Some are suitable for covered outdoor porches — check packaging for specific outdoor rating.
How do I clean it?
Vacuum regularly to remove loose dirt. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Some barrier mats are suitable for low-temperature machine washing — check care label.
Will it stay in place on hard floors?
Yes — the non-slip rubber or PVC backing keeps the mat stable on tiles, laminate, and hardwood floors.
Is it suitable for underfloor heating?
Check the product label. Most barrier mats with rubber backing are not recommended for use over underfloor heating systems.
What’s the pile height like?
Barrier mats have a low to medium pile — designed for scraping and absorbing rather than comfort underfoot, making them easy to vacuum and maintain.
Polypropylene or nylon pile surface with non-slip rubber or PVC backing.
