What is the advantage of an enclosed grip hacksaw?
An enclosed grip hacksaw has a fully enclosed handle — similar to a pistol grip — rather than the traditional open bow frame. This gives a more positive, controlled grip, particularly when cutting at angle or overhead. It also reduces hand fatigue on repeated cuts compared to an open bow frame handle.
What can I cut with it?
The supplied HSS blade cuts all common metals including mild steel, stainless steel, copper pipe, brass, aluminium, and plastic conduit and pipe. For cutting timber, a different saw is required — a hacksaw is designed specifically for metal and plastic.
What do the 4 blade positions allow me to do?
The 4 blade positions (0°, 45°, 90°, and 135°) allow you to rotate the blade to cut in directions that a fixed-blade hacksaw can’t reach — for example, cutting along a long length of pipe, working in a confined corner, or cutting overhead where the frame would otherwise obstruct the stroke.
Can I replace the blade?
Yes — standard 300mm (12") hacksaw blades are widely available and can be replaced when the blade becomes blunt. Always fit the blade with the teeth pointing forward (away from the handle) for correct cutting action.
How do I get a clean, accurate cut?
Mark the cut line clearly with a marker or scribe. Start the cut with a few light backstroke pulls to create a guide groove, then use smooth, full-length forward strokes with light pressure. Let the blade do the work — excessive force causes blades to wander or snap.
