How do I apply it?
Apply with a brush, roller, or paint pad to clean, dry, and prepared timber. Apply two coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second. The oil is rainproof within 90 minutes of application under normal conditions.
Do I need to prepare my deck before applying?
Yes — for best results, clean the deck thoroughly to remove dirt, algae, and any old flaking coatings. Sand rough or weathered areas smooth and allow to dry fully before applying. A clean, prepared surface ensures the oil penetrates evenly and lasts longer.
Can I use it on a new deck?
Yes — Ronseal Ultimate Protection Decking Oil is suitable for both new and previously treated timber decking. New timber should be allowed to weather for a few weeks before applying if it has been pressure-treated.
