What is orbital action on a jigsaw?
Orbital action moves the blade in an elliptical path as well as up and down, which speeds up cutting in softer materials like timber and MDF. Setting 0 (no orbit) is used for clean, precise cuts in harder materials like metal or ceramics. Higher orbit settings are faster but leave a rougher cut edge.
